We have a rewarding opportunity for a Teradata Developer within the Claim System Business Intelligence area. The Claim Division is initiating a number of exciting major initiatives. Significant new and or replacement applications are being planned as part of our platform strategy. In addition we are creating core business capabilities supporting new application development. A Teradata Developer in our organization provides leadership in application design, expert level programming/analysis skills and performance optimization. He or she provides complex, high-level technical support for these systems and has a broad conceptual understanding of capabilities and direction of technology, particularly Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence technologies.
Candidates must have strong technical skills with experience building end to end business intelligence solutions. The candidates must have strong problem solving and organizational skills. Applicants should have experience in all stages of solution delivery including analysis, design, construction, testing, deployment, and support.
Qualifications:
6+ years experience in Teradata analysis, design and development
6+ years experience with of experience with high performance/scalable data warehousing applications.
* Extensive experience in performance monitoring and tuning
* Experience with Teradata tools and utilities including but not limited to PMon, Teradata Manager, Teradata Administrator, SQL Assistant, BTEQ
* In depth experience with both relational and dimensional data models
* Teradata Master a plus
* Excellent written documentation skills
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Excellent self management skills (task lists, status reports, and prioritization)
* Commitment to quality, performance and timely deliverables
Primary Duties:
* Collaborate with the business subject matter experts, business analysts, functional leads, architects and technical leads from other disciplines to come up with end to end solutions to meet the assigned business requirements
* Design and implement cost-effective, technically correct database solutions based on business specifications
* Performance tuning and analysis including identifying and troubleshooting poorly performing queries and providing performance improvement recommendations
* Act as database and SQL liaison and mentor for development team.
* Deep understanding of shared-nothing databases architecture and best practices.
* Interact with customers to achieve efficient, effective results with respect to database development and enhancement
Technical Knowledge-
Has expert level technical analysis, design and programming skills. Ability to create and deliver an integrated technical picture of the solution and articulate how all pieces of the solution come together. Ability to develop technical specifications that can then be programmed by others. Has conceptual knowledge of varying technologies and the ability to make decisions based on that knowledge
